Taking stock

As for clothes, we're actually doing pretty good, I think. We could use more PJs for sure, as we've only got two pairs, and two fleece sleep sacks.

She's set for dresses: we have 4 long-sleeved dresses and 2 jumpers. We have three pants suits (long sleeves), one denim overall, four knit pants, four long-sleeved onsies, three short-sleeve onsies.

We also have three sets of coordinating separates in 18 month size for warm weather and a swimsuit. We have 7 bibs, a hat, three towels, two baby blankets, two sunglasses, a raincoat, a winter coat, and one pair of fleece booties.

The things we need the most, imo, are grooming/health products, bottles, and diapering supplies.

Oh, and nursery decor is completely done, except more crib sheets.

  1. Esp since you are going to be travelling on your own in Lanzhou - bring medicines, for you and for your daughter. Most everything else you can find some form of there, but not medicine! I would bring baby Tylenol, the little Hyland's teething pills if you can find them, children's Benadryl, bulb syringe, baby nail clipper or round tip scissor, and little noses saline drops. We found Johnson and Johnson baby cream in the store (label half in English and half in Chinese - I saved the little tub for a souvenir!). Also bring Tylenol or Motrin for you and whatever other meds (allergy, etc.) you think you might need. You may never use them, but better to have it just in case.

We are so excited for you guys! :)

  2. Don't forget some detergent to wash any clothing. I have always loved Dreft. I have also heard that you should bring a thermos to keep warm water to make bottles. You will need more pj. If she has an accident during the night, you might go through two pair. Sleep sacks are great because she can just wear onsies underneath. There is also a great diaper rash cream called "PINX" sav. You can find it behind the counter at the target pharmacy. Diaper rashes suck and if you can prevent it, all the better. I used this with a layer of Vaseline over top of it. Worked like a charm.
